WIMA International Rally 2008 was held in Finland.
Nine members from Japan participated in the rally. Finland is a beautiful country and rich in nature and we enjoyed amazing scenery while riding and relaxing at the rally site. I had heard that Finnish are shy like Japanese, but the Finnish people we met this time were all so friendly and nice!

Views from the rally site
We had an opportunity to make a presentation for WIMA 2010 Japan Rally with promotion video and slides. We were so excited to see the audience was enjoyed our presentation and very interested in Japan rally.
During the rally period, we passed flyers to many members and conducted questionnaire survey and found that many people are interested in Japan and seriously considering joining the 2010 rally. This made us feeling happy to think and work for 2010 even harder than before to welcome many riders from overseas!
The rally site is located 250 km north-east from Helsinki. A resort hotel surrounded by forests with private lakeside was our accommodation! Regardless of this perfect environment, the fees are 150-190€ including accommodation and 2 parties with breakfasts! I can imagine how tough it was to organize this rally. Thank you for your efforts, Finn members!

Some members from WIMA attended an event “Love the Earth” held at the beach in Hyogo prefecture for cleanup activity and PR of WIMA.
Riders are benefited from beautiful nature when we are riding but at the same time we are giving a little impact to our mother nature. Love the Earth is a green campaign by riders to protect our planet and to take action even from a small one.
http://www.lovetheearth.jp/ (Japanese only)
On this day, as many as 800 riders gathered to join the cleanup activity.
Thankfully, one booth was given to WIMA and we explained what is WIMA and what is rally using DVD, pictures and reports of past rallies.
WIMA Japan would like to help improve manners and awareness for safety of domestic riders by introducing Western countries riders’ attitude toward riding, who we think are one step ahead of Japanese riders in terms of these points. Love the Earth is also a campaign to change riders’ mindset. Thus, WIMA Japan supports this campaign.

WIMA Japan’s biannual event, spring meeting, was held in the area where 2010 Japan Rally will be held. Many members were gathered from many parts of Japan.
Some members visited Café Fairy Tale ran by Reiko Yamamura, a former international rallyist. She had visitors of journalists and luckily we were taken pictures as well and it was on a magazine! We had chance to have small lessons from Reiko on how to ride off-road bikes, enjoyed chatting and some had beautiful lunch there.

We also visited the rally site of 2010.
It is surprisingly beautiful site with big cottages. I never knew such kind of place is here in Japan! Our imaginations keep expanding how we can best utilize this huge village.

The inn we stayed this time was small one ran by a kind couple. We enjoyed unexpectedly gorgeous dinner.
This spring meeting was fruitfull one and we confirmed that the site is ideal and best place to welcome overseas riders in 2010
On leaving, we say “Matane!” (See you! in Japanese) as usual, hoping to see all in autumn meeting!
Matane!

The 35th Tokyo Motorcycle Show was held at Tokyo Big Sight.
WIMA helped at the booth “Ladies Support Square” and passed flyer to visitors.
At this booth, women's clothes and goods for riders are marketed, and people checked their own riding form in a mirror. WIMA made some PR at the booth.

It was great opportunity to meet many ladies riders.
The ladies in a yellow best are members of WIMA Japan.
We would like to join this kind of event in future. Please say hello if you find us at some event.

The 24th Osaka Motorcycle Show was held and WIMA was given chance to make PR activity.
The booth we helped is called “Ladies Moto Alamode” and had make-up and hair styling seminar for women.
One of our members talked about WIMA and our activities on the stage. There were some visitors interested in our organization and ask for a flyer. There was even a man very interested in WIMA and asked how he can join our event! Hmmm… may be a wig and make-up is needed.
